Description:

An updated version of the MDS 3.0 (version 1.18.11) will be implemented effective October 1, 2023, and the new MDS 3.0 data set is undergoing the most significant change to the RAI since the implementation of MDS 3.0 in 2010. This session will review key changes to the MDS item sets applicable to non-CAH Swing Bed facilities and how to accurately code new or revised items. In addition, the discussion will include key considerations for the overarching impact of the October changes on facility processes, including, but not limited to, discharge planning and the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP). This session will address preparation for changes to the MDS 3.0 and effectively operationalizing these changes within facility processes.

  • Identify key changes to the MDS and examine the intent of the changes
  • Discuss strategies to implement changes to IDT processes to capture supportive documentation for the coding of the new MDS items
  • Acquire knowledge to implement best practices to individualized Care planning and discharge planning utilizing the new SPADES and health literacy items.
